FAQ
Generally
Which bikes are suitable?
In principle, the VEOLO trailer can be mounted on almost any bicycle, but important requirements must be met.
Details / Notes:
- Brakes: Good, reliable brakes are a must. Hydraulic brakes are especially recommended.
- Quick-release axles: Modern bicycles with quick-release axles offer additional safety when towing a trailer.
- Stable frame: The frame material is secondary; adequate dimensions are crucial. Trekking bikes, mountain bikes, touring bikes, and gravel bikes generally meet this requirement.
- Not suitable: Racing bikes are not suitable for use with trailers.
- Mounting point: The trailer is attached to the left side of the rear wheel axle . This area is reinforced on modern bikes, including hydraulic brakes, and transfers the force directly to the frame.
- Manufacturer information: To date, only a few bicycle manufacturers have provided explicit recommendations for the use of bicycle trailers.
Conclusion: With a stable bicycle frame, reliable brakes, and quick-release axles, the VEOLO trailer can be operated safely.
Is the VEOLO suitable for e-bikes?
We completely get it, we change our minds too! While we wish could, once an order is placed, we are unable to alter or cancel it at this time. We hope to have a cancellation window one day in the future.
Should the item(s) not work out, make sure to exchange for a preferred style or return for a refund. As a reminder, domestic return shipping is free.
What do I need to consider with the e-bike?
Observe safety rules, adjust speed.
Details / Notes:
- Maximum speed: 25 km/h with trailer.
- Maximum load: 80 kg (total weight according to manufacturer's specifications).
- Braking distance increases depending on the load – especially with a fully loaded trailer.
- The trailer follows unobtrusively → think carefully when cornering and starting off.
Does the VEOLO have suspension?
Yes, through elastomer suspension.
Details / Notes:
- Optimal suspension for loads up to 50 kg.
- Elastomer heavy can be optionally retrofitted for more weight.
- Suspension ensures a smooth ride, protection of the load and fewer shocks.
Why isn't the VEOLO rectangular?
The shape was developed for optimal driving dynamics, not for maximum loading space.
Details / Notes:
- Rectangular trailers are less agile and heavier off-road.
Advantages of the VEOLO form:
- torsion-resistant frame & shell
- wide track for stability
- optimal integration of the independent suspension
- In combination with the 220 L bag, the space is still used optimally.
- Examples of loads: two large + one small beverage crates, one Eurobox or two stacked on top of each other.
Can I do sports with the VEOLO?
Yes, the trailer is designed for sporty driving.
Details / Notes:
- The combination of lightweight construction, suspension, low center of gravity and wide track ensures high agility.
- Fast cornering and off-road passages are also possible without any problems.
How heavy can the VEOLO trailer be loaded?
Maximum load: 80 kg.
Details / Notes:
- Standard elastomer optimally absorbs loads up to 50 kg .
- For permanently heavier loads: retrofit Elastomer-Heavy.
How can I store the VEOLO Cargo to save space?
Wheels and drawbar can be easily removed.
Details / Notes:
- 20" wheels can be removed via quick-release axle and stored in the tub.
- Vertical storage is also possible with wall bracket.
- Removable drawbar → transport dimensions greatly reduced (e.g. in a car).
What can I transport?
Everything your adventure requires – up to 80 kg, safe and agile on the move.
- Sports equipment: Mountain bike accessories, skateboards, SUP boards or climbing gear – the VEOLO brings everything to wherever you want to be active.
- Outdoor & Adventure: Tents, sleeping bags, backpacks, and camping cooking sets – easy to pack, securely fastened, and ready for any tour.

What are the advantages of the VEOLO pannier bag?
The bag offers huge volume, weather protection and flexible use.
Details / Notes:
- Volume: 220 liters – suitable for Euro boxes, beverage crates, camping equipment, etc.
- Roll closure and straps allow compression and load securing.
- Lighter and more aerodynamic than crates or boxes.
- Can be firmly connected to the shell and removed if necessary.
- Lockable for added security.
- Quick to load and unload, ideal for shopping, camping or leisure.
- Optimal use of space: The loading area is fully utilized.
- Versatile: Can be firmly attached to the shell, but can also be removed if necessary.
- Secure: Equipped with lockable zipper.
- Practical: Easy, quick loading and unloading.
Why is there no fixed box or crate?
A fixed box sounds practical, but in practice it has some disadvantages:
- Wind resistance: always present, regardless of whether the box is empty or full
- Weight: significantly heavier than a flexible solution
- Storage space: bulky, cannot be stored in a space-saving manner
Our recommendation: the large pannier made of robust material, specially developed for the trailer – huge, practical, and easy to roll up when not in use.
Why doesn't the trailer have a stand?
For maximum sportiness, a stand was deliberately omitted.
- Focus on driving dynamics instead of additional weight.
- Comparable to a racing bike or MTB (no ballast such as stands or mudguards).
- Due to repeated requests, we are working on retrofit solutions.
Why doesn't the trailer drive in the center?
The trailer is deliberately offset slightly to the left to increase safety and driving comfort – a practice that has proven successful with all renowned manufacturers.
Details / Notes:
- Over many years, this slight offset has become established as the standard in road traffic.
- Drivers usually orient themselves to the right of the road edge, when overtaking or when approaching obstacles.
- Due to the offset , the trailer sits approximately flush with the handlebars on the right side , thus avoiding collisions.
- On the left side, the slightly protruding drawbar offers additional protection.
- This arrangement ensures greater safety, visibility and harmonious handling – as is common with all leading bicycle trailer manufacturers.

- On the left side, the slightly protruding drawbar offers additional protection.
- This arrangement ensures greater safety, visibility and harmonious handling – as is common with all leading bicycle trailer manufacturers.
What is the correct tire pressure?
The correct tire pressure is crucial for safety, driving comfort and optimal suspension.
Details / Notes:
- Often the pressure is too high, which makes the ride harder.
- Less load → lower tire pressure possible.
- The tire compensates for small bumps, the elastomer compensates for larger ones.
- Optimal pressure depends on: terrain, driving style, tire model.
- Orientation (according to weight & tires):
- Smart Sam – ideal for off-road use
